David Villa

"Villa found himself chasing a very limited number of jobs, while facing very stiff competition. Simply put, he is overqualified in a shrinking job market, which is why he is stuck with employers well below his station."

How Villa is still at Valencia is a mystery to me. Surely Valencia had to sell, even if they might have had to reduce his price a bit, and surely Villa wants to move to a bigger club. I was surprised he was so adamant about remaining in Spain, especially considering Spain only has two big clubs, he severely limited his options.

Perhaps he felt he needed to stay in Spain during a World Cup year, but as Marcotti points out, he is clearly one of the worlds best strikers, is Spain's second top goalscorer of all time, rarely suffers injury and at 27 is probably at the peak of his ability. I'm sure he could play in Fiji and still get enough attention to get picked for the Spanish squad.
